ServerSideMap
Shares the Map between all players, synchronizes map when connecting
Set expectations first: the maintained Valheim mods cover uncovering the map faster and sharing what is already uncovered, not unfogging the world in one click. CartographySkill widens the radius you reveal as you travel, ServerSideMap moves exploration to the server so everyone shares it, and Better Cartography Table controls that sharing per pin.
Shares the Map between all players, synchronizes map when connecting
Adds the cartography skill, allowing you to increase your map explore radius as you uncover more of your map.
Allows precise control over sharing pins and map exploration via cartography tables. Supports private pins, public pins, and guild pins. Supports NoMap runs, giving cartography tables a purpose in NoMap. Translations available.
CartographySkill is the closest thing to revealing more, and its README explains why it helps at all: the radius Valheim uncovers around you is smaller than your view distance, so you routinely sail past a visible coastline that never lands on the map. The mod raises that radius either as a flat value or through an optional custom skill. By default you can reach skill level 100 before finishing a world, but it awards no experience for ground you already discovered, so a fully explored world will not level it.
ServerSideMap is the co-op answer, and it is a bigger change than it sounds. It moves explored areas and pins off individual clients and onto the server, which then distributes them to everyone and syncs a joining player up to the group's progress. Pin sharing is a separate switch that defaults to off, and a /convertpins chat command uploads pins a client already had, since existing client-side markers are not migrated automatically.
Two things about ServerSideMap will cost you an evening if you find them the hard way. Its README states it is incompatible with crossplay and PlayFab, so a crossplay server is simply out. It also requires it be installed on both server and client, and admins may need to move the world's .explored file by hand after Valheim's save-folder restructure.
Better Cartography Table takes the opposite stance on sharing: everything private unless you choose otherwise. Pins default to private and get shared individually through a cartography table; map exploration sharing can be public, private, or limited to a guild if Smoothbrain's Guilds is installed. Several players at one table see each other's changes live, which makes planning a trip an actual shared activity. It also gives cartography tables a purpose under the NoMap world modifier, where the map is reachable only by standing at one.
If you want the map to matter more rather than less, ZenMap goes the other direction — the map is only viewable at a cartography table, and the table reveals its surroundings over several in-game days rather than instantly. Read its warning before installing: it resets existing character map exploration data, so back up your character first.
