Manage Containers
Files loot into containers after you set what each one accepts.
Manage Containers files items into containers after you tell each container what it accepts. It does not decide your storage plan for you. The old 42.13 compatibility patch says it is no longer required.

A separate sorting item. Read its page before treating it as the same workflow.
Start with a few obvious crates, such as food and tools, and mark the items you want to keep on your character. Auto-Sort & Virtual Crafting is a different Workshop item. Read that page before you assume it uses the same categories or the same multiplayer setup.
| Option | What it is for | What to watch | Workshop note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manage Containers | Send loot into containers you have already labeled | You still choose the categories and what stays in your bag | The current item. The author has described B41, B42, and multiplayer support. |
| Auto-Sort & Virtual Crafting | Another sorting project, with crafting from storage in the name | Not a drop-in replacement for labeled crates | Read its own page for build and multiplayer limits. |
| 42.13 compatibility patch | An old patch for Manage Containers | Nothing, if you are on a current build | That page says the patch is no longer required. |
Labeling categories is not the same as renaming items. Better categories help you read a bag; this page is about where the bag gets emptied.
Label the containers you already use, then try one unload. If a category is wrong, fix that crate instead of adding a second sorting mod. Multiplayer hosts should confirm the same items are enabled for everyone who shares those containers. This page has not been played on a dedicated server.
Looting nearby containers is the step before this one. Finding a recipe from what you stored is the step after. The Build 42 overview also starts from Manage Containers.
No. The patch page says it is no longer required. Use Manage Containers itself.
Only into categories you assigned. An unlabeled crate is not a destination.
No. Picking up nearby corpses is a separate task. Use the nearby-loot page for that.
Yes, if you are willing to label the containers you already have. You do not need a new save just to try one food crate. Back up the save if the server is shared.
